Now that we have that out of the way, we can get on to more important things.
Like how incredibly sick I am.
Okay, really, it's not the worst thing I've ever been through, but that doesn't change the fact that it sucks.
What's worse is that I'm allergic to almost all the good medications. When I was around 15 years old, my mom gave me some ibuprofen for a headache. Within a few minutes, I had chest pain, couldn't breathe and was panicking in pain. At the ER, they found nothing wrong and left me monitored on the table for around 6 hours, at which time, the pain faded, and they sent me home exhausted.
It wasn't a month later when the same thing happened. This time, though, they found a common factor. The medicine. From there, I was told never to take anything with Ibuprofen in it, OR anything with Aspirin in it. So I've avoided it like the plague.
As a kid, I never had many problems with allergies. I AM allergic to cats, but we never had one growing up, so it wasn't ever a problem for me. At least not until I was about 14 or so. In the spring, I had a flare up of major allergies while I was at a girls camping trip with my church group and a leader gave me some Benedryl. Not only did the medicine not help my symptoms at all, but my eyes swelled up, puss welled up in my eyes from my tear ducts and for the next five or six hours, I was absolutely miserable.
Everyone told me it was just a bad case of allergies that medicine couldn't help.
Unfortunately for me, the same effect happened with Benedryl several weeks later when my dad gave me some for allergies before we left for church. Pseudo ephedrine gave me the same reaction, and now I avoid any kind of decongestant whatsoever.
This morning, I woke up sick. Throat so sore I couldn't swallow spit, congestion in my ears and nose, and sneezing with a mild cough.
After church, my husband told me to take Sudafed. Yeah. Duh. I should have known better. But my husband has had extensive education in chemistry, and regularly analyzes the ingredients in medications. I took it cautiously, telling him that I can't have this. He said it wouldn't hurt me. Buuuuut...for 6 hours I was laid out with eyes full of puss, and now, while the puss is gone, I feel like I've been punched in both eyes.
We've recently become Do Terra Essential Oils distributors. Our oils come Saturday. And it can't come too soon. I need some Breathe and some Frankincense!!!!
